Understanding the structure of our website searches with Google Data Studio
As we said before, thanks to the connection between GDS and Search Console we can see and represent a large amount of data about how Google is sending organic traffic to our website.
This allows us to have enormous control over organic traffic, particularly if we work in a country like Spain where the percentage of organic traffic represented by Google is almost absolute.
Now, in every project there are at least two large layers: on the one hand, we have “the place where we are” and, on the other, the place “where we want to get to”.
In other words: on the one hand we have the traffic that we have begun to impact in some way, and that generates information for us, and on the other hand, all the searches generated by the keywords that interest us and that, perhaps, we have not even begun to look at.
Analyzing our organic traffic with Google Search Console
Let's start by analyzing a hypothetical case: the traffic we are just beginning to see.
Google Search Console allows us to know which searches we are appearing for (impressions) and which searches are bringing us users (clicks).
The difference between the two figures already gives us the first immediate area for improvement in our organic traffic.
Of course, this first field of improvement must be analyzed.
We will never be able to have a volume of clicks comparable to the volume of impressions and, what is more, we have to understand that we will never have a similar CTR in brand searches compared to searches that do not involve our brand.
