Monthly search volume is the number of searches your keyword receives each month on Google .

Obviously, the higher the search volume, the more potential traffic you can get.

The flip side is that a higher search volume also means a higher keyword difficulty (KD% on Semrush).

Keyword difficulty is essentially how difficult it is to rank on the first page of Google for that term. It goes without saying that the lower it is, the better .
