The head of ER-Telecom Holding named the implementation deadlines

Post by tanjimajuha20 »

The gradual transition of companies to domestic equipment was discussed at the CIPR 2024 conference by Andrey Kuzyaev, President of ER-Telecom Holding JSC. According to him, there are domestic solutions for most types of equipment for fixed networks, but 80% of network equipment and 95% of client equipment are foreign-made.

"It is possible to force companies to buy only Russian equipment through the critical infrastructure system. But there are very serious risks here. Firstly, for a long time, not jordan whatsapp number database a single large manufacturer or even startup in the field of telecommunications equipment production has appeared that would have serious ambitions to compete with established market players," said Andrey Kuzyaev.

set by the state as another risk: "When the industrial competence centers (ICC) were just being created, the Russian government said that by 2025 all equipment should be domestic. But this cannot be done in two years. In my opinion, the government should set real deadlines for replacing equipment: expand production, create a competitive environment, and not just set desired dates. And critical infrastructure should be a risk management method, and not a method of forcing everyone into domestic solutions."

Konstantin Ankilov, CEO of the consulting agency TMT Consulting, is confident that the timeframe for switching to domestic equipment should be increased: "Such a transition may not happen in two or three years. The question will be about the share of domestic added value and the share of domestic technologies. This is a long process. However, the benefits may vary. Even what is Russian will in any case have at least some imported components and patents - this is common global practice."

Andrey Kuzyaev recalled the threat of dependence on foreign vendors in the event of insufficient financing of the industry: "If we, as companies, do not invest in manufacturers of telecom equipment, then as a result we will either get Chinese dependence or a Russian monopoly market. Rostelecom and MTS invest in equipment manufacturers. ER-Telecom has also decided to go this way. I do not see any other way. I propose considering the possibility of issuing benefits to newly created enterprises in the radio-electronic industry that will produce telecommunications equipment until the moment of recoupment of costs. Also, for these companies, the tax burden should be reduced as much as possible."
