"And you, what was it like when you were a student?"! To answer this question, meet Laura Salin, a former Eskasian student and director of the social media strategy agency #NoComment. She tells us about her student years and shares her best memories.

1. Laura, can you tell us a little about your background?

After the equivalent office 365 database of a Master 2 at ESLSCA with a Management Organization & Consulting option, I began my career in a sales position at an IT wholesaler, then I joined the UP group, first in the communications department and later became digital marketing director. 3 years ago, I decided to embark on an entrepreneurial adventure with the creation of my agency specializing in B2B social media strategy, #NoComment.

2. Why did you choose ESLSCA to train? How did you find out about the school and what attracted you to it at the time?

Unlike many other business school students at the time, I did not do a business school prep course before joining ESLSCA but a BTS Action Commerciale. Following this, I wanted to continue my studies to take advantage of the best job opportunities.

- The address book and professional opportunities offered by the school . At the time, the alumni network was already very active with Alumni who held prestigious positions. It was a dream!

- The welcome I received at the time of admissions by the ESLSCA students. They explained to me how the courses were going, but also the behind the scenes of the school and its associative life. I immediately felt a real solidarity, a goodwill between the students but also that there was a great atmosphere in the classes!

So I applied and took the ESLSCA oral exams.

3. Precisely, your admission oral? What was your speech to be accepted?

When I went for the interview, I had just returned from 6 months in Dublin where I combined studies with work in the administrative and commercial management of a large hotel. I was therefore totally fluent – which impressed the English teacher who was part of the jury that day – while having initial experience in the international working world. My ambition to continue my studies after my BTS and to open up to new professional horizons must have also appealed to the jury.

4. Do you remember your very first day at ESLSCA? What impressions do you keep from it?

I remember being very impressed! We were a large class of about 200 students, all in the lecture hall. At the time, at the end of the classes, new students had to introduce themselves in turn, on the stage in front of the whole class and I was among the first to do the exercise. I was thrown in at the deep end right away.

5. How was your integration week? Are there any rituals or traditions to welcome new Eskasians?

So many memories…. During this first week, we almost lived together 24/7. I remember many rituals around school songs, a great participation of the 3rd years and the Alumni who organized after-school drinks every evening, with the grand finale, the integration weekend in a large gîte near Paris. Enough to create real bonds and cohesion in my year.

Besides, the friends I made during that week are still part of my circle of friends today.

6. What subject did not exist at the time and would have been useful to you in your current professional life?

Undoubtedly digital. In my time, such courses did not exist anywhere since the internet was still in its infancy. However, I have spent my entire career in this field by learning on the job and taking additional training.

7. What is THE thing you learned at ESLSCA that you still use every day?

Project management, thanks to the many case studies carried out during my 3 years of studies. Also, the courses on non-verbal communication which taught me a lot and still help me today during business negotiations.
