JDHS soccer teams start successful road trip

Post by mouakter14 »

The Juneau-Douglas High School: Yadaa.at Kalé Crimson Bears girls and boys varsity soccer teams began a three-day road trip with wins against Houston on Thursday.

The girls defeated Houston 8-0 and the boys topped the Hawks 10-0.

“We got up super early, got on a plane and had a drive when we landed,” JDHS coach Matt Dusenberry said. “I think we even got a text from the coach for our JV game saying ‘are you guys coming?’ We literally got there 15 minutes before the JV game (vs. Colony JV), and then had to turn around and drive to Houston for the varsity game.”

Houston is a Division II team playing in the Northern country wise email marketing list Lights Conference.

JDHS junior Peyton Wheeler scored three goals against Houston with assists by freshman Marigold Lindoff and senior Milina Mazon, and one goal was unassisted.

Sophomore Clairee Overson scored two goals, one assisted by senior Cerys Hudson and the other unassisted.

Senior Parker Boman and freshman Ayla Erickson both scored unassisted goals and sophomore Riley Schultz scored one goal assisted by Wheeler.

The girls Hard Hat Award went to junior Kenzie Simonson.

“She just came to play and had a pretty calm presence,” Dusenberry said. “She had energy on both sides of the ball, meaning, when we needed to go forward she was there and when we lost the ball and needed somebody to track somebody down she provided that too.”
