I might be alone on this one, but freezing temps in the snow! There’s nothing worse for me than having to go out on a long training run in August when the humidity is at 100% and it’s 99 degrees out. Although I prefer heat and humidity to the cold in every other instance, running is not one of them.
2. Have washboard abs or flat abs?
This question is irrelevant to me since I will never have either one. Even when my abs are feeling strong, I know that abs are made in the kitchen and I’d have to really watch what I ate in order to get them to look good from the outside. I love food too much — hence the name of this blog — so that will likely never be me.
3. Dr. Oz or The Doctors?
I’ve never seen The Doctors and I don’t love the controversy surrounding Dr. Oz (a lot of list to data times he talks about “miracle” supplements that don’t have any science backing them up) so I think I’m going to go with neither on this one. How about my PCP instead? Or WebMD? Haha!
4. Cardio or strength?
Both are so important! I believe a balance of the two is best for overall fitness, but there’s a lot of research these days that’s showing strength is better for keeping your metabolism up and burning calories long after your workout is over.
5. Cravings: Protein or carbs?
Carbs, always. I love ’em! However as much as I love carbs, I know I gain weight when I eat too many so I try to limit them somewhat. Instead, I try to incorporate protein in every meal and snack to help keep me full longer. Today, for example, I ate a Reese’s peanut butter cup pumpkin (leftover from Halloween) because I convinced myself there was enough protein in the peanut butter to make it a viable choice.
6. Jillian Michaels or Bob Harper?
I love them both! I used to listen to Jillian’s podcast all the time (I totally forgot about it until just now — why did I stop listening?) and I have her workout DVDs, but I love Bob’s caring and empathetic nature. I think I choose Bob!
7. Frozen Yogurt or Ice Cream?
This might be weird, but when I get frozen yogurt I get the plain “yogurty” flavors (the ones that are a little sour like Greek yogurt), and I like to load up on the fruit toppings and then add a sprinkle of chocolate. For whatever reason, I like to keep froyo a little more healthy. Ice cream, however, is a totally different story. Give me all the peanut buttery and chocolatey toppings! This is why we never have ice cream in the house. Ha!
