Bard, Google's answer to ChatGPT

Post by shukla7789 »

The artificial intelligence race is well and truly on between Google and OpenAI, the creator of ChatGPT . The online search giant has just unveiled Bard , a conversational AI or chatbot that can answer questions and produce text from a query. The main difference compared to its arch-rival ChatGPT is that Bard uses the internet " to provide up-to-date, high-quality answers ." A thinly veiled allusion to the operation of OpenAI's chatbot, which is not connected to the web and, by its designers' own admission, can produce " plausible but incorrect or absurd " answers .

Bard is based on a lightweight kuwait mobile database of LaMDA ( Language Model for Dialogue Applications ), a large language model introduced in 2021 by Google. It is a statistical algorithm that models the distribution of word sequences to predict the next word. This is how ChatGPT works , predicting the statistically most likely answer to the query made to it.

Bard is not yet available to the general public
Google points out that it is a pioneer in this field with the Transformer mechanism it introduced in 2017, which is the basis for many generative AIs, including ChatGPT. For now, Google has opened Bard to " trusted testers " and plans to make it available to the general public in the "coming weeks."

For its part, OpenAI is scheduled to hold a press conference this week to detail its partnership with Microsoft , which plans to invest several billion dollars to support the company's development. The publisher intends to integrate ChatGPT 's technology into several of its products, including Office applications (Word, Excel, Outlook, etc.). The Bing search engine could also benefit and become a formidable competitor for Google.
