Some of you may have noticed the brief uproar surrounding the game Flappy Bird (Wired / English) . If not, here is the short version,
In Flappy Bird you control a small bird by tapping on the screen employment database with the aim of flying through openings between a series of tubes. For each successful flight you get a point, if you touch the ground or one of the tubes it's game over. Very simple, easy to understand, but at the same time incredibly difficult and absolutely addictive.
It was released in May last year, when nobody was interested in it. At the beginning of this year, the game suddenly shot to the top of the free apps list in Apple's App Store. Even the developer Dong Nguyen cannot explain why. The most likely explanation is that the whole thing got around by word of mouth. (Evil tongues suspect, however, that fake reviews are being used to push the app up the rankings.)
The exact reason is ultimately irrelevant, but the game was downloaded millions of times and brought in up to $50,000 in advertising revenue per day. But with the rise came the pressure and stress of success, which ultimately became too much for Nguyen. On February 8, he removed the game from the Apple and Google app stores.
While this story was still unfolding, what always happens in succuess
