Facebook is preparing a reduced beta version aimed at the mobile market after acquiring the company FriendFeed , which can be tested by some users who receive an invitation from the company.
"We're testing a simplified version of Facebook architect data that loads specific apps efficiently and quickly," the company's statement said. "A Facebook- like experience built for mobile, Facebook Lite loads quickly and lets you comment, accept friends, post on walls, and view photos and updates."
This strategy seeks to connect with the immediacy that Twitter conveys and to capture the growing mobile market, which could bring in large numbers of advertisers for Facebook if it manages to design an interface that pleases users.
