Then we turned it into an industrial process

Post by shapanwwuom »

Right now only about 2% of society are farmers, and we get all the food we need. So what does this free up other people to do? Um,

Some of them go off to other like creative pursuits or cultural pursuits or other jobs. Some people just go there for entertainment. Right. So I think, generally speaking, people today don't work as many hours as they used to, when everybody needed to farm in order for everybody to have enough food to survive.

I think this trend is influenced by technological development. My guess is that the percentage of people who engage in the physical activities necessary for human survival will continue to decline. As a result, more people student data will devote themselves to creative, artistic and cultural pursuits. I think this is a positive development overall.

Furthermore, I predict that the number of hours someone needs to work per week to make ends meet will likely continue to decrease. However, those who put their heart and soul into their work will be able to invest tremendous effort and, with the unimaginable leverage provided by technological advances, achieve more than ever before.

If we fast-forward or extrapolate historical technology trends, this is what we might see. However, the question you raise is very important: Is this a qualitatively different situation, one that somehow makes certain skills or jobs obsolete? I think when you raise this question, it opens up avenues for further consideration.

It’s important to remind ourselves that at every step of human progress and technology, people have assumed that the technology we are developing will make humans obsolete.

So maybe this time it really is different, but I guess what's going to happen is that this technology is going to be integrated into everything we do.
