Security and innovation top the list of priorities in Red Hat's latest 2023 Global Tech Outlook report. Red Hat technology evangelist Gordon Huff discusses key findings from this and other studies on the state of digital transformation around the world on the Enterprisers Project .
The Global Tech Outlook is an annual survey that asks IT leaders around the world about their funding priorities, cloud strategies, and digital transformation efforts. The latest survey surveyed more than 1,700 IT leaders in May and June 2022. With the focus on digital transformation in a changing global environment, it’s especially interesting to learn what has and hasn’t changed in this area.
While definitions vary, we view digital transformation as a rethinking of technology — but even more so of processes and culture — to improve customer service and make businesses more agile and resilient. Given this, it might be worth considering why we haven’t seen more movement toward digital transformation in the last few years.
For example, in a 2020 study, only 15% of respondents bosnia and herzegovina mobile database their organizations were in the top category, but 84% had seriously begun digital transformation (classified as evolving, transforming, accelerating, and leading). So, as a result of all these efforts, companies are in a better position now than they were then, right? Not exactly.
The numbers have changed since 2020 , but not by much. Fewer companies (12%) are now in the Leaders category. What we can conclude is that while relatively few companies (6%) say their digital transformation projects have stalled, the reality is that many have stalled.
It’s hard to believe, given how many companies have quickly adapted to remote and hybrid work and an increasingly threatening cybersecurity landscape. But initiatives like these may reveal a deeper truth that can be summed up as follows: “The CIO’s job is never done.”
