App boom continues

Post by hasan018542 »

The German app market sets new records every year: In 2020, apps are expected to generate revenues of 1.99 billion euros - an increase of 24 percent compared to the previous record year of 2019 (1.61 billion euros). This was reported by the digital association Bitkom based on data from the market research institute research2guidance. According to the report, more than three quarters of sales are so-called in-app purchases, with 1.55 billion euros coming from this.

Advertising in apps generates 399 million euros, which corresponds to a 20 percent share uk gambling data of sales. Paid apps, on the other hand, have lost a lot of importance for the market, and now account for just 2 percent of sales (52 million euros). "The app market is booming and has proven itself to be absolutely crisis-resistant, even during the Corona pandemic," says Bitkom CEO Dr. Bernhard Rohleder. "An ecosystem has now formed around apps, which also creates additional jobs and added value in Germany."

The number of app downloads in the two largest app stores is expected to be 2.75 billion this year, an increase of 28 percent compared to the previous year. 72 percent of downloads are from the Google Play Store, 28 percent from the Apple App Store. A total of 3.4 million apps are currently available in the Play Store, while 1.8 million apps are available for download in the App Store. "Gaming apps dominate the market and generate the most revenue," says Rohleder. However, the range of apps covers almost all areas of life and topics, from education and productivity to lifestyle and travel to health and fitness. "Apps for messengers and social networks are particularly popular, but also for streaming, mobile banking and navigation such as the speed camera warning app. The most important app of 2020, however, is the Corona warning app, with almost 18 million downloads - even though it is free and therefore not reflected in the market data."
