On October 10, 2024, the Open Network Technologies Association launched the procedure for liquidation of the legal entity after almost four years of activity. The association was founded on November 30, 2020. Its founders were ANO Telecommunication Technologies (ANO TT), PJSC Mobile TeleSystems (MTS), Kryptonite Group of Companies, and the Skolkovo Institute of Science and Technology (Skoltech).

"The association ceased to exist due to the achievement of its objectives. The key goal of the association was to establish effective interaction between manufacturers brazil telegram of telecom equipment, independent software developers, telecom operators and interested participants in the information and communication technologies market. At the moment, key market players are actively interacting and implementing projects to introduce domestic products and solutions based on open network technologies in the communication networks of Russian operators," Andrey Ushatsky, president of the Open Network Technologies association, told a ComNews correspondent.

Representatives of the association's founders (ANO TT, GC "Kryptonite", Skoltech) did not answer questions from a ComNews correspondent.

the founders indicated that the organization's activities would be aimed at supporting manufacturers of telecommunications equipment and software developers in the development and application of open standards and technologies. This would allow new suppliers to enter the market and increase the efficiency of network development by operators. The introduction of telecommunications solutions based on open standards to the market should have provided favorable conditions for the development of domestic suppliers and seamlessintegrationsequipment from various manufacturers on communication networks.

"The Association will not only coordinate the interaction of market players to promote solutions based on open standards, but also contribute to increasing the scientific and human resources potential of the industry. It is also planned to carry out large-scale work to develop the regulatory framework necessary for the implementation and operation of communication networks based on new solutions," said Dmitry Lakontsev, head of the NTI Competence Center for Wireless Communications and the Internet of Things at Skoltech, in 2020.

The association's participants included MTS, PAO MegaFon, PAO VimpelCom, ANO TT, NPK Kryptonit, Izhevsk Radio Plant (IRZ), Skoltech, Far Eastern Federal University (FEFU) and the Association of Universities of the Electronic Communications Bureau.

One of the latest and major projects of the Open Network Technologies Association was testing the 5G OpenRAN solution in 2022. On September 7, 2022, the association announced the completion of the first stage of laboratory testing of a 5G base station running software developed at Skoltech with support for the open OpenRAN architecture.
