Today, technology is an essential part of the strategies of any company that wants to lead the market and is a key tool for being part of the most disruptive era of all time .
The coming years will be extremely changing and anyone who does not start to anticipate what is to come will have serious difficulties in surviving in a highly challenging but opportunity-filled market.
But how can we face this uncertain future and, above all, how can we adapt to the needs of consumers with technology as our secret weapon?
To reflect on this, we attended "Merge: the fusion between technology and us", a conference organized by PHD at the Only You Atocha hotel, in which renowned professionals from the world of technology participated.
Óscar Dorda, managing director of PHD Spain, was in charge of starting the session by exploring the intricacies of technology and its impact on industry and society.
He has done so by taking a tour of the different stages of the technological and digital taiwan phone number world, which are collected in the book Merge that PHD has launched and which is, in the words of Dorda, “the latest piece that PHD has developed globally on the future, which, at some point, although we may not believe it, we will not be able to differentiate between the real world and the virtual world, they will be totally symbiotic.”
Thus, Dorda differentiates 5 phases:
1. The first, from 1950 to 1995 , is characterized by navigation, by the introduction of the first web that brings us information by surfing through screens. At the end of this phase, barely 10 million people have access to the Internet.
2. Second phase from 1990 to 2015, determined by the organization of information through browsers, search engines, operating systems and applications. At the end of this stage, 3.5 billion people have access to the Internet.
3. Third phase , which is the one we are in and which spans from 2010 to 2025. It is characterized by the introduction of machine learning, which represents “a spectacular improvement in the user experience for obtaining information.”
To delve deeper into the following two points, Gemma Vallet, innovation director of PHD Spain, took the stage and laid out the guidelines that should guide every company into the future.
"Our goal is to ensure that companies see these new technologies and know when to get on board. We are experiencing exponential, not linear, growth ," he says.
We are currently in the information extraction phase (2010-2025), “a crucial stage because in recent years we have been dumping millions of data that have no meaning for companies because the information was simply dumped, but without any purpose.”
At a time when only 0.5% of data is in use, Big Data is more necessary than ever “it is the food for learning machines. It is important not only to extract information, but also to structure it well.”
For data extraction there are 9 key areas to observe to “know that we are going in the right direction”:
1. The next generation of wearables: smart rings. “We are entering a nanotechnology that allows us to be transmitters of information, but also receivers.”
