Meta plans to launch its own virtual currency on its platforms. According to the Financial Times , it would be a response to the company's ongoing expansion of the range of financial products it offers to users of its applications and services.

The company’s financial arm, Meta Financial Technologies , has been exploring the possibility of using a digital currency as a way forward down the path to the metaverse . Some employees are already referring to these digital tokens as “Zuck Bucks,” after the firm’s founder, Mark Zuckerberg .
