Christmas is made up of small gestures and the magic of this season is fuelled by the great spirit of solidarity that is so characteristic of this festive season. This spirit of solidarity is even stronger after two long years marked by physical distance. That is why we want to compensate for the lack of human warmth, closeness and togetherness and offer the possibility of being closer, even when we are far away.
In the spirit of Christmas, this year we will offer elderly people who are lonely or dependent a new friend, a friend right at hand when they need it , bringing a little more magic to this season, through the initiative "A friend here at hand”.
A friend here at hand, always
At a time that fosters a true sense of empathy for others, and with the aim of making Christmas happier and more colorful for 20 elderly people, our mission is just one: to combat loneliness and isolation. How? Through our greatest arm wrestling: technology.
Therefore, this year we joined the project "A friend here at hand", by italy whatsapp number database a sum of money to the Coração Amarelo association that will allow the purchase of 20 smartphones for these elderly people who are lonely or isolated.
This is a way of appealing to unity, mediated by the wonders that technology can offer: proximity to those who are truly excluded by loneliness, isolation and, often, a lack of resources .
The Coração Amarelo association is a private social welfare institution founded by seven women and has approximately 700 volunteers and 500 beneficiaries, mostly elderly people who are lonely. The main purpose of this association is to promote initiatives that can contribute to autonomy and that aim to support and improve the quality of life of people in situations of loneliness and/or dependence, preferably the elderly, while promoting intergenerational relationships.
This initiative to combat isolation by offering smartphones arises from a pandemic scenario that forced the suspension of in-person visits and replaced them with telephone contacts. The aim is for these contacts to be made via video call.
So this year, we want to alleviate loneliness and isolation. We want to improve quality of life. We want to offer a connection to the world through images.
This season calls for strengthening bonds. For closer relationships. For unity. At Christmas, more than ever, we are all closer to each other.
