1. Call for Papers: Reality of International Legal Theory – Reality in International Legal Theory. The ESIL Interest Group on International Legal Theory and Philosophy (ESIL IGILTP) and iCourts have issued a call for papers for a conference on “The Reality of International Legal Theory – Reality in International Legal Theory” to take place 19 – 20 May 2022, at the University of Copenhagen. The call is here. The deadline for the submission of abstracts and other requested documents (see information in the call for papers) is 14 February 2022. Confirmed contributions include a key-note speech by Mikael Madsen (iCourts) and presentations by Arthur Dyevre (KU Leuven), Andreas Føllesdal (PluriCourts), Brad Roth (Wayne State), Urska Sadl (EUI) and Nora Stappert (Leeds).
2. Call for Papers: International Journal of Legal Studies and Arbitration. IJLSA is now receiving submissions for publication in its upcoming volume. IJLSA is an internationally recognised journal with a wide-ranging and in-depth focus on various issues of international law and arbitration. It aims to offer a platform for review of new developments in the field of international law and arbitration. Submissions on any issues of public international law or arbitration in English are welcomed. The Editorial Board will select articles based on their quality and relevance. Selected papers will be subject to peer-review before publication. Most published self employed database papers are around 6,000 words, but shorter and longer pieces may also be accepted. Submissions should follow the OSCOLA/Bluebook style guide and should be sent here before midnight on 15 February 2022.
3. From Sacred Trust to Common Heritage: The Uncommons History of the Common Heritage of Mankind Lecture. The Convenors of the Essex Public International Law Lecture Series are hosting a lecture to be given by Dr Cait Storr (University of Technology Sydney) entitled ‘From Sacred Trust to Common Heritage: The Uncommons History of the Common Heritage of Mankind.’ This event will be held on Monday 31 January 2022 at 9am GMT. 4. Centre for European Law and Internationalisation Events. On 26 January, the University of Leicester’s Centre for European Law and Internationalisation (CELI) is hosting two events: (1) 12.30pm: Book launch of the volume The Emergent African Union Law: Conceptualization, Delimitation and Application (OUP 2021). The event is a collaboration between the International Law and Policy in Africa Network (ILPAN), CELI, the African Union Law Research Network (University of Sussex) and the Institute for African Women in Law. The keynote speaker is Ambassador Namira Negm, the African Union’s Legal Counsel. The event will be held online (MS Teams). You can find the details of the event here.
