1. Exiting the Energy Charter Treaty under the Law of Treaties. In the latest in the series Bocconi Conversations in International Law, Lorand Bartels (University of Cambridge) and Tibisay Morgandi (Queen Mary University of London), in conversation with Roger O’Keefe (Bocconi University), will discuss whether there is a way under the law of treaties for states parties withdrawing from the Energy Charter Treaty to circumvent the treaty’s 20-year sunset clause. The event will take place in hybrid format on Friday, 19 April 2024, 4:30-6:00pm at Bocconi University, via Röntgen 1, 20136 Milan, room 1.c3.01. 2. Call for Papers: The German Yearbook of International Law. The Editors of the vnpay database German Yearbook of International Law (GYIL) have opened the call for contributions to the “General Articles” section of Volume 67 (2024). Submissions can be on all topics and fields of interest that are relevant to public international law. Papers submitted should be in English, be between 10,000-12,500 words (inclusive of footnotes), and must conform with the house style of the GYIL (accessible on the website of the Walther Schücking Institute for International Law). Submissions, including a brief abstract, keywords, statement of affiliation, and confirmation of exclusive submission, should be sent by 31 August 2024 to the Managing Editor of the GYIL via e-mail: yearbook {at} wsi(.)uni-kiel.de.

3. GROMADA Summer School and Moot Court on International Law. The University of Hamburg is hosting the GROMADA summer school and moot court on international law protecting for the environment during and after armed conflicts and the opportunities and limitations of citizen science from 25 August – 1 September 2024 in Hamburg. The interdisciplinary summer school is aimed at people interested in law, environmental sciences, and other related disciplines. The moot court at the end of the summer school will address various scenarios of war-related environmental damage after the Russian full-scale invasion of Ukraine.
