3. Create a compelling title tag

In August 2021, Google announced a change to the way it generates web page titles in search results. It now relies less on title tags and more on other text on the page, such as H1 tags .

How much is missing?

Our research shows that Google is now 32.86% more likely to “rewrite” title tags. That may sound like a lot, but we also found that Google rewrites title tags only 33.4% of the time.

In other words, the title that Google displays in search results is the same as the page’s title tag two-thirds of the time. For this reason, writing compelling title tags remains important in 2022 if you want people to click on your site in search results.

4. Refresh rejected content
Even if your site’s organic traffic peaked last year, it’s inevitable that some of your pages have dropped. Here’s the thing; rankings rarely last forever, so you need to be intentional about updating and republishing content that starts to drop.
