BSI warns against the use of unsafe wireless door locks from the ABUS brand

Bonn. The Federal Office for Information Security (BSI) warns against the use of the HomeTec Pro CFA3000 digital door lock from the manufacturer ABUS in accordance with Section 7 of the BSI Act and recommends replacing the product.

Digital door locks are increasingly being used to protect rooms and entrance doors. Different technologies for transmitting locking and opening signals, such as radio, are used to lock and unlock.
"Vulnerabilities in such radio door locks not only compromise the main function of the products, but turn them into the opposite, as these security gaps can be deliberately exploited by unauthorized persons," says BSI President Arne Schönbohm .

According to the BSI's findings, a vulnerability in the ABUS product HomeTec Pro japan gambling data CFA3000 wireless door lock drive means that attackers who are nearby can lock and unlock the wireless lock when the vulnerability is exploited, thereby gaining unauthorized access to buildings, offices or apartments. The manufacturing company ABUS confirmed the vulnerability to the BSI and informed that the product under investigation is a discontinued model that has been replaced by a successor model since March 2021. The secure successor model can be recognized, among other things, by an enclosed keycard with a unique QR code; in addition, the new version has the product and packaging printed with the Bluetooth logo.

Consumers can obtain a final assessment of individual risk situations and further assistance from the manufacturing company.

"We expect that companies will not leave their customers alone with a problem of this magnitude and recommend that they consider using alternative products," said Schönbohm. The case shows once again that information security is the prerequisite for sustainably successful digitization.
