Russian repositories are in full bloom

ComNews previously reported on the development of several repositories. According to market participants, a single company should manage the repository, and when working together on the repository, vendors will not be able to agree on a single vision of the problem.

According to the association, the decision to develop a repository was made because there was no suitable solution on the market to meet the requirements of the state - Federal Law No. 187-FZ and its Article 2, Bank of Russia Instruction No. 2194-U ("Action Plan Aimed at Ensuring Continuity of Operations and (or) Restoring the Operations of a Credit Institution in the Event of Non-Standard and Emergency Situations", paragraph 3.7) and Bank of Russia Regulation No. 787-P ("On Mandatory Requirements for Credit Institutions to Operative Activities in Carrying Out Banking Activities in Order to Ensure Continuity of Provision of Banking Services", paragraph 6.1). Also, according to the company, the existing software repositories were created as industry-wide and without taking into account the specific requirements of financial industry participants.

This year, developers will integrate classifier cards for IT solutions for various market sectors, testing protocols, data visualization, and advanced search capabilities into the project. And in 2024, the association expects to introduce business analytics services and registries of secure and unsecure resources into the project.

The FinTech Association believes that one of the main functions is IT solution cards. At this stage, the functionality of maintaining directories and synchronizing them with the Unified Register of Russian Software (URRS) from the Ministry of Digital Development, Communications and Mass Media of Russia has been implemented. The vendor plans to add the ability to copy similar information from existing IT solution cards and check the integrity of the data with the corresponding data from the URRS.

Ivan Panchenko, Deputy CEO of the Postgres Professional database management system developer, said that the development of several repositories is evidence of competition in the market, and Russian services similar to GitHub are in demand, and companies have decided to meet the demand. "Most large companies have and use internal repositories of program code - it is more profitable and convenient for them, and they do not use public repositories at all or use them for a limited range of secondary tasks. Postgres Professional relies entirely on its infrastructure for working with program code, we simply do not need third-party repositories," Ivan Panchenko clarified.

Viktor Petrov, director of the research and development center of the IT equipment manufacturer IVA Technologies, stated that it is impossible to unite in this case, since the repository must have one operator who is engaged in its development and support. "At the same time, for users of repositories, the absence of a monopoly allows them to choose the most convenient and suitable service for specific tasks, which is an important factor in effective development," Viktor Petrov added.
