It will probably be similar in Switzerland. in Switzerland is estimated at 10 million. Despite massive campaigns, there are currently perhaps a third as many DAB+ receivers. This ratio affects not only home consumption, but also mobile consumption in the car. But that is only part of the problem.
Since DAB+ has not caught on in all our neighboring switzerland rcs data countries, it is difficult to imagine that we would switch off FM and thereby offend all car tourists. And then we also have to be prepared for natural disasters as well as warlike or terrorist situations. DAB+, which will at best achieve 50 percent coverage in a few years, cannot do this in any way.
But then there is IP. The consumption of radio via the Internet is already as high as that via DAB+ and is constantly increasing. IP is a technology that we use for all digital areas. Only radio with DAB+ is out of line with its own hugely expensive terrestrial infrastructure. And for the consumer this means the following: a new receiver for radio has to be purchased - and an Internet-compatible one for everything else.
